"Come Build and Play: Pyramids in Sand" at The Children's Museum is a kid's dream: The exhibit includes four sandboxes to play in, two of them with archaeological treasures to discover, and no one minds if you get sand on the carpet.
It's all part of the museum's goal of "playful immersion," teaching kids about art, history and culture through hands-on activities.
"Pyramids in Sand" includes a 14-foot-tall pyramid, a sphinx, the entrance to a tomb and several camels, all sculpted out of sand by award-winning sand sculptor Barry Swires. A video shows Swires constructing the exhibit, and there's a ...
