Article: Hunger a political issue many Americans can get their arms around.(St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

WASHINGTON _ Three times a year, Margaret Meyer of Kirkwood, Mo., gives money to a hunger relief organization.

Meyer, who votes in every election, follows the news from Washington and demonstrates an understanding of most major political issues, says that giving to charity isn't a political decision.

The 47-year-old mother doesn't really seek out a candidate's stand on hunger issues before she votes. And for their part, most politicians don't really tout much of what they do or don't do to combat the problem.

"In the grand scheme of things you base your vote on, it's important," Meyer said. "I wouldn't look for it specifically, though."
