Designer James Victore reports from the Chaumont poster festival
Three days? Mon dieu! In only three days six other international designers and I had to rally 105 French design students to create 105 competition-ready posters. Zut alors! But... I'm jumping ahead already.
The Festival d'Affiches de Chaumont, or Chaumont Poster Festival, began 13 years ago as a product of French design critic Alain Weill. He had hoped to establish a home for French poster design and to put France on the map of international design competitions, along with other established biennials held in Warsaw, Brno in the Czech Republic and Lahti, Finland.
