Recently I read two black books about English Canada. The first, Stuart Maclean's Vinyl Cafe Unplugged, was only black on its cover. Inside, it gives the happy face of English Canada. Reading aloud the story about the husband who tries to install an electrical outlet and eventually destroys his wife's kitchen in a rapture of power tools and male camaraderie helped my own wife accept the holes I made in our walls during my own home repairs.
