Aug. 14--Moving to quell a rising rebellion in suburban communities, the Swift administration yesterday issued new rules that give towns more control over the construction of affordable housing projects built under the state's controversial antisnob zoning law.
But in the effort to respond to concerns about the law, known as Chapter 40B, the administration also triggered the shutdown of a major federal funding source for affordable housing -- resulting in exactly the kind of slowdown in housing production that Acting Governor Jane Swift said she wanted to avoid, in her veto ...
