Pharmacists and Family Planning The closest and quickest place to get contraceptives is often the neighborhood pharmacy. Worldwide, about 55 million couples buy their family planning supplies in pharmacies. This amounts to over half of couples using such temporary family planning methods as pills, condoms, and spermicides.
But pharmacies could serve many more. Almost 450 million couples need the family planning supplies that pharmacies sell.
The developing world offers great potential for growth in pharmacy sales of contraceptives. Currently, pharmacies in developing countries serve about 15 million family planning customers. Even though some people ...
