BARABOO -- Sauk County is no longer named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by Milwaukee County concerning a fatal helicopter crash that happened nearly two years ago.
Sauk County Corporation Counsel Todd Liebman said a Dodge County judge ruled Aug. 5 that Sauk County could not be held liable for financial losses incurred because of the crash.
"The judge ruled that Juneau County was in command of the situation, and that meant Sauk County was not obligated to pay Milwaukee County," Liebman said.
Milwaukee County has the opportunity to appeal the decision.
