AN OLD FOLK song called ``Erie Canal'' begins with the line ``Low bridge, everybody down.'' We were approaching a low bridge across a tributary of the North Landing River, and we figured that if we flattened ourselves in the bottom of the boat, we would make it through. The bottom of the bridge was slowly passing overhead, inches from our faces, when we discovered an unforeseen dilemma. The outboard motor forgot to duck.
