GAP SEES $2B SALES; MEN'S THE BACKBONE
SAN FRANCISCO -- Calling men's wear "the foundation of our business," the Gap, Inc., chairman and chief executive officer, Donald G. Fisher, said the specialty retailer is exceeding its sales projections and should reach $2 billion in volume this year.
Fisher told DNR that men's wear sales comprised 50 percent of the company's total volume. The remainder is women's and children's.
Although the Gap does not break down its sales by division, it said results of its Banana Republic men's wear business were "much improved" last year, most notably in the fall. Fisher said the 116 Banana Republic stores, which have ...
