It was a task that proved insurmountable for a team still trying to revitalize its offense. The Twins' challenge Saturday was to hit an unnatural pitch - the knuckleball - and later to try and connect with pure, hard heat.
"It's not fair," designated hitter David Ortiz said.
Trapped between Tim Wakefield's fluttering and Alan Embree's gas, the Twins lost 5-2 to Boston and have dropped nine of their past 12 games.
During the those 12 games, the Twins have averaged 2.9 runs. It's something the coaching staff maintains will change; the team just has to work its way ...
