A: You mean you don't like gallons of maple syrup, brown sugar and marshmallows swirled into your savory sweet potatoes? News flash: The "sweet" in front of the term sweet potatoes is not a green light to make your side dish into a dessert. What's next? Broccoli with hot fudge sauce, garnished with M&Ms?
Until you mix in a bunch of sugar, sweet potatoes are only marginally sweet. In fact, they were originally just called potatoes (a variation of the Native American term batata) when Spanish explorers first hauled them back to Europe. They got the "sweet" ...
