It's being billed as a "merger" of Nestle's USA ice cream business into Dreyer's, but since Nestle will end up owning 67% of the "combined company," it's actually more a takeover of the American ice cream business by the Swiss conglomerate.

Dreyer's is the largest manufacturer and distributor of ice cream and ice cream products in the United States. It sells ice cream under the Dreyer's brand in 14 western states in the US and parts of Asia, and under the Edy's brand name elsewhere in North America. In addition, it distributes ice cream under the Dreamery, Starbucks and Godiva brands.
