ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS
CHASKA, Minn. -- The Funk Fest had to end sometime.
Playing to the crowd at every opportunity, 46-year-old Fred Funk fell short in his bid for a major victory Sunday, but he came away rejuvenated after tying for fourth place at the PGA Championship.
``I just didn't want the day to end,'' Funk said. ``It was such a great atmosphere. I was having a good time.''
Paired with the ever-popular Tiger Woods, Funk received the loudest cheers of the day as the galleries serenaded him with chants of ``Fred-die, Fred-die.''
One spectator hollered ``Freddie for governor.''
