Thanks for the excellent "Attack on America: Dutch Harbor 60 Years Later" (June). We treasure each heart-touching story like this. The first WWII casualty of our hometown was KIA at the harbor.

I was a medic with A Co., 1st Bn., 37th Inf. Regt., at Dutch Harbor. We were in the process of painting camouflage on our Quonset huts when the air raid began. There was a mad scramble to get off the huts as the Zeros came over at approximately 50 feet. I don't recall any Zeros firing at our outpost.
