In September 1996, at the Bayou Club in Georgetown, Washington DC, Eva Cassidy enthralled the audience with her rendition of What A Wonderful World.
At the best of times, Cassidy's voice would have moved listeners to tears, but this was the worst of times. It was her swan song, the last time she would sing in public. Cassidy was tragically thin, ravaged by cancer.
Chemotherapy had taken her blonde hair. Still, the sheer power of her voice, resonant with emotion, stirred everyone there. Two months later, she was dead.
