WESTLAKE VILLAGE - State Farm Insurance Cos. said Tuesday that it will shutter its Westlake Village and Costa Mesa operation centers as part of a broader plan to cut expenses by at least $69 million annually.
The move will affect 702 employees in Westlake Village and 525 in Costa Mesa as California's largest insurance company reduces its number of claims offices to 20 from 66 in the next 18 months to 24 months.
State Farm spokesman Bill Sirola said the move should not be a surprise since the industry is suffering from rising claims costs and a morass of litigation.
