The Charles Krug Winery in Napa, Calif. has released a limited number of library wines as part of a celebration of 40 years of its Vintage Selechon Cabernet Sauvignon program. First wines released are from the 1981, 1983 and 1984 vintages, priced at $20 per bottle.
The winery is also planning a lottery to allow collectors and connoisseurs to purchase rare lots of Vintage Selection Cabernet from the winery's own library. There will be a total of more than 20 cases available for sale through the lottery at prices ranging from $50 per bottle (for the 1974) to $500 (for the 1951).
