The percentage of households in California able to afford a median-priced home decreased by 5% in June compared to a year ago, according to a report released today by the California Association of Realtors here.

The June 2002 Housing Affordability Index stood at 27%, down five points from 32% in June 2001, according to the association. The June index slipped 1% from May 2002, when it was 28%.
