Poland to bolster small & medium firm support, will capitalize guarantee funds by PLN 2 bln to 2006

Poland will capitalize its system of guarantee funds for supporting small and medium sized business deals to the tune of PLN 1.5 to PLN 2 bln by 2006, Minister of Economy Jacek Piechota told reporters Thursday.

Guarantee funds are to be built around a system of local and regional funds nationwide supporting SME developments. Funds are to come from EU transition funds, sale of Treasury held minority stakes in firms, the national guarantee fund and be cornerstoned around the state held bank BGK.
