TWO years ago, White Hart Lane School in Tottenham, one of the most deprived areas of London, was an educational basket case.
Condemned by Ofsted for failing its pupils, its corridors resembled battle zones. Order and discipline were alien concepts and children who wanted to learn were ignored.
On the basis of its exam results, White Hart Lane School's performance is still one of the poorest. A mere 25 per cent of pupils achieved at least five passes at the grades A*C - barely half the national average.
