Aug. 23--Citing economic needs, American Airlines' regional affiliate, American Eagle, is pulling up its stakes at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.
The carrier is canceling its daily service between Dallas and Savannah on Oct. 15.
The airline is transferring to other cities its equipment shuttling between Savannah and Dallas -- regional jets seating between 37 and 50 people.
Basically Savannah's loss of American Eagle comes down to time, said Robert Uhrich, the Savannah Airport Commission's director of air service development.
