Public Citizen Admits Error In Insurer Solvency Report

WASHINGTON - Public Citizen has acknowledged that it erred in putting ITT Hartford on its list of major property and casualty insurers that could face possible financial trouble in the event of a severe economic downturn.

Public Citizen issued a retraction late Friday, Oct. 19, about five days after its initial report prompted strong protests from insurance industry representatives. (See NU, Oct. 22.)
