Aquatic oligochaete worms are commonly used as tools in toxicity testing as well as in sediment's health assessments. Oligochaete worms are generally considered pollution tolerant, but little research has been made to help us understand the mechanisms used by these "tolerant" worms to survive pollutant exposure.
