The rapid development of Qatar's economy is largely thanks to the resource development policy adopted by the government through the exploitation of Qatar's North Field, the largest non-associated gas field in the world.
Qatar has the second largest gas reserves in the world after Russia, with proven gas reserves currently estimated at 900,000 billion cubic feet (see table 1). The most promising growth in the coming years will be seen in the production and export of natural gas and petrochemical projects.
