Exxon Moves Ahead With Sakhalin
Exxon Mobil declared Monday that its proposed natural gas pipeline from Russia's Sakhalin region to Japan is both technically and commercially feasible.
The line will run more than 1,000 miles from the eastern coast of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East to a location offshore Cape Soya, Hokkaido, and then on to either the suburbs of Tokyo or to Niigata on the western coast of Japan. The pipeline's diameter would be 26 to 28 inches with a capacity of about 800 MMcf/d of gas.
