NEW YORK - Driven by active lifestyles, and the sexy allure of Madonna, innerwear has broken through as a fashion category that retailers say will carry it through the Nineties.
"What jeans were to the Seventies, leggings are to the Nineties," said Clair Cuthbert, Bloomingdale's merchandise vice president of intimate apparel and swimmer. "This is the era of body beautiful, more sensuality, more accentuation of the bust line. And more Lycra."
