Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Sixth seed Andre Agassi won his first-round match at the U.S. Open, disposing of Robby Ginepri, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
The American Agassi needed just 84 minutes to defeat countryman Ginepri. Agassi hit 26 winners and benefited from 30 unforced errors by his opponent.
"I worked hard to make the score line appear to be easy," Agassi said. "There was an area or two in which I could do better, but for the most part I was right where I wanted to be. When I had an opportunity to seize the point I was quick to recognize it and execute the shot."
