BRISTOL, TENN. -- Dale Earnhardt may have died 18 months ago, but to many fans, he is not gone.
"You go to a race ... and you still see him," says Terry Ward, whose bushy mustache and short haircut make the Elizabethton, Tenn., resident resemble the seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion.
You can't miss Earnhardt at a race. His face adorns T-shirts. His silhouette decorates beer bottle coolers. His No. 3, although no longer racing around banked turns at Winston Cup tracks, covers caps that dot the grandstands.
