Reliable sells units to Perry
PONTIAC, Mich. - Reliable Drug Stores has agreed to sell 16 Detroit-area drug stores to Perry Drug Stores, should a bankruptcy court first approve the sale by Revco D.S. of those and 205 other drug outlets to Reliable.
The announcement of the proposed sale to Perry comes only weeks after Revco said it would sell the 221 units to Reliable as part of its plan to divest 712 stores to pare back to a core operation. A bankruptcy court in Cleveland is expected to rule on the Reliable sale at a June 19 hearing. Once that occurs, Perry expects to acquire the 16 units by the end of June, says company spokesman Berl Falbaum.
