If you feel the urge for some artistic enlightenment this weekend, take a break from the usual summer fare of beaches, baseball and barbecues.
Instead, check out paintings, plays, concerts, puppets and more at the annual Elgin Fine Arts Festival.
Now in its 11th year, the weekend event promises to offer entertainment - with an artistic focus.
"It's got a really nice mixture for the whole family. There's constantly something different going on for each age group and everyone who comes in," said Meredith Marth, a spokeswoman for the city of Elgin.
