Mark Vaile, the Trade Minister, has expressed commitment to the single desk used by the AWB for wheat exports. Vaile said the single desk would not be negotiated away during international trade talks. However, he acknowledged that refinements could be made to the system to enhance competition and transparency. Vaile labelled any US questioning of Australia's free trade standards outrageous.
