ORANGE, Calif. _ Vendors like George Gamar _ who supplies french fries, hash browns and tater tots to all California state prisoners _ have been through this before: weeks, even months, without payment as the politicians in Sacramento wallow in partisan warfare with little progress toward a new state budget.
Gamar, whose Orange County Cold Storage delivers food from Pelican Bay in the north to Calipatria in the south, says he is within days _ two weeks, tops _ of having to pull the plug on weekly shipments of 250 tons of food.
While not getting paid since June is bad enough _ he's out nearly $500,000 so far _ Gamar says he is especially frustrated given ...
