With voice cracking, University of Colorado at-large regent Jim Martin bowed out of the 2nd Congressional District race Monday, citing worsening heart troubles.
Martin, a 51-year-old Republican, said his doctors warned him he was taking a ``serious, life-ending risk'' should he choose to stay in the race against Democrat Cindy Carlisle and Libertarian Flux Neo.
Martin, plagued by hereditary heart problems, said beginning Friday, he experienced nausea and a tightness in his chest that continued into the weekend. He said his doctors informed him he had a heart attack.
