Plans for Food Label Changes Announced by HHS Secretary Sullivan
A major overhaul of food labeling is in the works at FDA. The agency is expected to propose mandatory nutrition labeling and other major revisions beginning by mid-1990. In a March 7 address before the National Food Policy Conference, HHS Secretary Louis Sullivan, M.D., announced that FDA has planned a series of changes to revise food labels and provide better information for consumers.
