B.J. Upton's nose must have pressed a dent in the window by now.
Chesapeake's Upton, the second pick in the June baseball draft, remained on the outside looking in Monday, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' supposed deadline for getting Upton's name on a contract.
"Hopefully, in the next couple of days," said Upton's father, Manny, repeating his mantra from the last three months. "We're pretty close. I think it'll happen."
Negotiations being all about strategy, Manny Upton isn't inclined to say much more to snoopy reporters. This must suffice:
