OXFORD, Miss. _ They say it was just happenstance. Knowing the traditions of football in the South, though, one wonders if there was the intent to recapture the past while embracing the future.
About the time that Eli Manning arrived at the University of Mississippi campus, there was controversy about the on-campus speed limit. Seems everybody ignored the 20-mph signs. Committees were formed, meetings were held, and it was decided to drop the speed limit to a number that would make people take notice. The speed limit is now 18.
