PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local BG TUNISIA, a subsidiary of UK-based BG PLC, is the operator of the Miskar offshore gas field. In so doing, the company currently supplies some 205 million cubic feet per day to the state-owned SOCIETE TUNISIENNE DE L'ELECTRICITE ET DU GAS (STEG). The Miskar field is located about 125 kms offshore in the Gulf of Gabes and covers an area of some 350 square kms.
However, recently concluded negotiations with the government will now involve supplying additional sales volumes until the year 2020. As a result, BG has agreed to invest another $450,000,000 over the next 9 years in order to expand its operations.
