Sir Richard Branson says net income for Australia's Virgin Blue Airlines for the year to 31 March 2002 is expected to be above $A100m. Virgin Blue's founder, Branson also said a decision is close on whether Boeing Company or Airbus Industrie will win a $A3bn order for 40 new aircraft. Although Virgin already has a fleet of Boeing 737s, the airline's 50% equity partner, Patrick Corporation, could favour the Airbus A320's ability to carry freight containers. Branson has also foreshadowed Virgin Blue's expansion to Hong Kong, Bali and New Zealand, with the latter likely to be aided by Qantas taking a 25% stake in ...
