Sir Richard Branson says net income for Australia's Virgin Blue Airlines for the year to 31 March 2002 is expected to be above $A100m. Virgin Blue's founder, Branson also said a decision is close on whether Boeing Company or Airbus Industrie will win a $A3bn order for 40 new aircraft. Although Virgin already has a fleet of Boeing 737s, the airline's 50% equity partner, Patrick Corporation, could favour the Airbus A320's ability to carry freight containers.
