Sep. 1--There was a time when Steven Fisher feared that South Bend was a "city that time had passed by."
But no more. For years, Fisher, the president of Philadelphia-based PEI-Genesis, which manufactures the bulk of its products in South Bend, has been traveling to this area every six to eight weeks. His most recent visits have convinced him that South Bend is in the midst of an "economic renaissance" in large part because of the growth of the city's distribution industry.
