Salomon Smith Barney hired two senior bankers from the nation's top health care underwriting firm Merrill Lynch & Co. this month in an effort to increase the firm's activity in that sector.
Charles Plimpton and David Johnson both officially resigned from Merrill and joined Salomon on Aug. 16. Plimpton was on vacation and could not be reached for comment, and Johnson was also not available to comment.
Plimpton now becomes a director with Salomon in Los Angeles, while Johnson serves as managing director in Chicago. Both held the same titles at Merrill, where Plimpton spent roughly five years and Johnson about eight, according to Ed Malmstrom, managing ...
