The EU's police agency Europol has opened a liaison office in Washington D.C. in an effort to boost transatlantic co-operation, in particular in fighting terrorism and drug-trafficking. The opening took place on August 30 in the presence of senior EU and US officials, including Europol Director Jurgen Storbeck.
