Group to probe investing tack of private pension portfolios
An advisory group to the Department of Labor will probe whether private pension funds are taking a short-term approach to their investments.
There is widespread concern in Congress over how the investment behavior of pension funds has changed in the past several years and what its economic impact might be. The fear is that short-term turnover is unhealthy for pension funds.
