Employers seeking to meet the tastes of employee-consumers have myriad options for adding voluntary insurance products to their benefit menus. But brokers and other providers are asking plan sponsors to consider two main approaches: whether to sign with an exclusive provider of voluntary benefits, or give employees access to a highly competitive online "marketplace."
