SEOUL, Sept 4 Asia Pulse - Instances of share price manipulation rose sharply in recent years, according to data compiled by the Financial Supervisory Service.

The instances of share price manipulation last year numbered 152, up 149.1 per cent from the previous year.

The rise in these incedents is dramatic when compared with previous years, with only 21 cases in 1997, 33 in 1998, and 31 in 1999.

Of the total cases last year, 101, or 66.4 per cent, were prosecuted, with the FSS meting out mild disciplinary action in 33 cases.
