BEIJING, Sept 4 Asia Pulse - Experts from Chinese Health Food Association have pointed out the following problems in the health food industry:

Most health food enterprises operate on a small scale. There are only three enterprises whose sales revenue has exceeded one billion yuan (US$1.25 billion) and nearly 100 enterprises whose sales revenue is over 1.5 million yuan.

The variety of health food products came to 1,509 in 2001, including 651 for regulating the immunization system, 217 for regulating blood fat and 211 for fighting fatigue. They made up 71.5 per cent of the total.
