STORES EYE MERCHANDISING GOALS
NEW YORK - As the powers in retailing continue to consolidate, fashion, exclusivity and niche merchandising will be increasingly important in keeping intimate apparel a viable category.
This was a key theme sounded at an intimate apparel symposium Tuesday evening at the New York Helmsley Hotel here. It featured a panel of five retailers representing department and specialty stores, catalogs and small independent shops.
The event, co-sponsored by Du Pont and WWD, drew a crowd of more than 250 designers, manufacturers and retailers.
