A calm is returning to a Staten Island hillside that cradles the remains of one of America's darkest days.
This is a nondescript place, part of Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island. Just miles from the bustle of lower Manhattan, but somehow very far away.
Buried here, in a 40-acre graveyard, is Sept. 11.
Buried here is what's left of the World Trade Center and the remains of those who never went home after terror struck that sunny New York City morning.
