Teradata tops survey on hiring at high-tech firms

Ashton-Tate Corp. registers biggest percentage drop

A survey of hiring and layoffs at Los Angeles-area computer companies shows Teradata Corp. boosted its work force by 58 percent, the biggest percentage increase among companies surveyed.

Lowest ranking in the survey was Torrance-based software developer Ashton-Tate, where the work force has shrunk by 30 percent. The survey was conducted by Corporate Technology Information Services Inc. of Waltham, Mass., based on the most recent annual reports of the companies.
