SENEGAL
Capital: Dakar
Population: 9.8 million (2001), more than 25% of which are in the Dakar region and another 35% in the central part of the country. The East part is sparely populated.
Climate: Tropical; rainy season (May-November), dry season (December-April).
Language: French, Wlof, Pulaar, Jola, Mandinka.
Total Area: 196,190 square kilometres.
Ethnic Groups: Wolof (43 %), the Pulaar (24%) and the Sereres (15%)
