The Western Branch football team hasn't needed much motivation in preparing for tonight's season opener against Bethel.

All the Bruins have to do is remember last season.

Western Branch was ranked second in South Hampton Roads but left Darling Stadium in Newport News with a 33-29 loss to Bethel.

''We went into that game kind of big-headed, thinking we were going to win,'' Bruins running back Quentin Forbes said. ''That loss woke us up.''
